Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

Barça revealed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition over two years following their departure to allow renovations to start.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, it will accommodate almost 105,000 spectators, a rise from the old capacity. Barça announced finished work included an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.

Preparatory Events

Barça organized a public practice at the Camp Nou in early November. They mentioned they are seeking authorization by UEFA to host the next European match facing Eintracht on 9 December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
