The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events during the season.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions of the year due to a health issue that has affected her over the past 10 days.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Those preparations will include her coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round versus Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the third set against Zhu because of the lower back problem that has been a concern at times this year.

Those results signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after a long gap in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in the third round in Beijing last month.

She secured twenty-eight matches this year and advanced to the semis in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami Open in March.

Ranked first in Britain reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

She mentioned that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
