World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season. The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles title. A Season of High Performance Across the season, Sabalenka played in a tour-best nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final. The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 atop the rankings for a second straight year. In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015. Record-Breaking Numbers Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a historic £11m in tournament winnings. She earned almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media. On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level". Additional WTA Award Winners Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking 13-month break after the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport at the start of this year. Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after starting the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18. Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after securing their second career Grand Slam title as a pair. Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five finals. Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
