Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
